More Flexibility from a Single Fan Coil Unit

Traditional layouts can require a separate fan coil unit for each space; Multiroom takes a different approach. A single unit uses multiple independently controlled fans to serve separate rooms, with individual room controls feeding into the central FCU controller. The system responds to the requirements of each space and adjusts airflow accordingly. This can reduce the number of fan coil units and associated connections required while allowing the FCU itself to be positioned away from the rooms being served.

Multiroom combines multiple independently controlled fans with a compartmentalised discharge plenum. Each fan serves an individual space, removing the need for conventional volume control dampers to manage airflow between those spaces. Individual room controls communicate with the fan coil controller, which assesses heating and cooling requirements and adjusts the airflow delivered to each space. This allows a single FCU to respond to different comfort requirements across the rooms it serves.

Put Multiroom performance to the test

Ability can recreate relevant elements of the proposed Multiroom arrangement at its testing facility in Poole, including ductwork layouts and grille positions based on client drawings. Acoustic, airflow and thermal testing can then be used to help validate the proposed selection before installation and commissioning. Following testing, clients receive documented results including photographs, layout drawings and calibration certificates.
