Since Ability's inception in 2001, the philosophy of designing flexible, forward thinking, technologically advanced products has shaped our core values, which still hold firm today. Our early implementation of EC motor technology helped to shape the industry, increasing focus on energy efficiency and helping to dramatically reduce energy consumption and the associated carbon footprint.

Based in Poole, Dorset, we operate a fully integrated sales, product design and manufacturing facility which has led to us becoming the UK’s pre-eminent FCU supplier. Acquired in 2016, we have now become part of the specialist division Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation, which gives us access to the latest R&D facilities and allows us to leverage knowledge to produce the most efficient and effective HVAC solutions.

2024 saw the return to trading under the Dimplex name, while still remaining part of the Glen Dimplex Group. Dimplex moved to endorse the other Glen Dimplex brands in the UK. This included Xpelair, Ability and SmarterDM, bringing together the combined capabilities of the modern business in the HVAC sector.
